New Member with a Question

Greetings all.
I've just picked up a Sterlingworth which has a sort of 'double strike' of the name Sterlingworth on the left side of the receiver. This second strike is off a bit which creates a slight shadow of a different letter beneath the more prominent one. I only noticed it where you would naturally - at the first letters which are both "S." So the name was struck perhaps lightly and then somehow the tool shifted to the right one space and a deeper impression was made.
Anyone see this before?
I am just curious. It isn't going to keep her out of the hornbeam and stickers this Saturday.
Ed

If it was a 1909 Lincoln penny, it would be worth some money! Never seen that before on a Sterlingworth, S

It appears that Fox and to a lesser extent Savage were pretty lackadaisical in stamping the receivers and replacing worn or broken stamps for their Sterlingworth line. On the other hand they did pay close attention to detail on their graded guns. Just goes to show that you get what you pay for.

check out this gun... its as close to new as i have ever seen (that's not really saying a lot but its really a very close to 100% gun)... the "I" is almost completley gone and it appears many of the other letters were broke as well....I have noticed this a lot on the S/W guns... though I do not remember ever noticing a double stamp... big fan of pictures...

If you have chance, could you post a picture? Thanks
