Now this looks like high condition to my untrained eyes.

I prefer my high condition guns to have never been removed from the box. :D

I copied the picture of the box label for the web site, that is the first red Utica label I have seen.

Are we sure it's a legitimate box/end lable??? I've owned 2 boxed Foxes and seen 5 others and none of the lables looked like that, both Philly and Utica guns...Sterlies & graded.

Two things strike me funny: That "Ansley" H. Fox is spelled out that late in production and that the guage "16" is stamped in but the barrel length "26" is printed. Seems to me that both items would be stamped....especially barrel length.

Has anyone else seen a lable like this one offered?????.........Researcher, where for art thou?

tjw

ps- I'm not trying to say it's not authentic....just curious.

The following pics were posted here once before. Once again, for comparison.

16 gauge AE, Savage production but gun has some Philly features and barrels are marked Chromox. All the variable features are stamped - not printed - on the box. Silvers

Box indicated that its full and modified, while description indicates IC and modified. Something's amiss...

Would a box for a 26" gun say Brush rather than Field?

I've never seen that label before, and I agree that if it is printed with 26-inch it should say BRUSH. Also, if it is NIB, where is the hang tag? This is the only style label I've seen --

This is a the box for a gun that "lettered" as a "BRUSH".....no designation on the correct original box. The hangtag was not marked BRUSH either.

Note both the gauge and barrel length was stamped, not printed.

Tom,
Is the BBB on the box? If so what is the meaning?
Thanks
Jess

I saved out that picture of the red label and blew up the barrel length which appears to have a piece of tape over it in seems unreadable, at least in the resolution of that pacture. Could it be this gun started life as a 28-inch modified and full "Field" but the barrels got whacked two inches? Hmmm....

Jess,

The BBB is just my "cyber-overstamp" a'top the serial number. Sorry for the confusion.

Here is one that I have... philly gun but the label is almost identical to the Savage label with the obvious changes...I swirled out the serial number... otherwise it is stamped in black... the protective plastic makes it look worse than it really is...

here is the actual gun...
