CE-20 Gets the Game

It's that time of year again! The much anticipated Dove opener has come and gone and boy was it a good one. I've hunted on the same farmers in north eastern Colorado now for the last thirteen years. Over the years we've had some good hunts and some great ones. This year it's been a very cool August and we were afraid the Doves would have departed the country for warmer climes to the south. But as it turned out it was a marvelous opening day with the weather just right, the birds flying and good friends to share it with.
I thought I'd share some of the experience with all of you here. You may remember that back in December I posted some pictures of a CE-20 that I had just picked up. I spent the winter cleaning the gun up and doing a re-finish on the wood. I then decided that I would use this gun for the Dove opener and here's some pictures of the post shoot with this gun for your pleasure.

Here's pictures of the gun before the re-finish.

As you can see the setting for the shoot was wonderful looking over the field of sunflowers. I was standing where the pictures were taken, I was facing the sunflowers with my back to an old abandoned farm stead tree grove. The birds were returning to the trees after the morning feed. What a great experience shooting an old small bore Fox in such a setting. This gun has the original owners initial engraved in the trigger guard bow and is listed as such in the Callahan letter. I wondered as I was shooting it weather old W.W.D. would be happy knowing his special ordered CE was still getting the game.
Hope you enjoyed this,
Paul
