Tell me this SW didn't have a bad day. Wonder what the original owner thought when he saw this one day. Looks like someone laid it on some train tracks.

It almost looks like it was put in a press.

What do think, pis*ed off wife or ex ? Possibly gun turn-in or police destruction.

If Obama & Queen Nancy have there way, all our guns could look like this.

Funny this should come up. I am going to Kull's auction Friday and the have a sterly there I may bid on if it goes cheap enough. The barrels are a renumber mismatch that fit on face ok but leave the top of the frame WAY PROUD above the extension. The forend wood has been replaced but the iron is ok and has the spring latch. The frame has probably 75% case all over and it doesn't look like there has ever been a screw turned. The butt is in very good shape with good checkering and if I remember , it has a butt plate not a pad. Anybody got a feel for what it would be worth for parts? The bores are good in the barrels, and they are Philadelphia marked with cold blue but no polishing out of inscriptions. In an earlier thread Germantown was talking about one like this I wonder if it's the same gun? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Lee.

Lee,I have been know to shoot mismatched Foxes! If the barrels are on face and in good condition it should be a good shooter. The frame can be filed down to match the barrels but might need to be anealed and then recolored. I would say about half price is the value on a mismatched gun. Bobby

Some poor soul bought it through proxybid at near $700 with the buyers premium. Obviously they hadn't seen the gun in hand. That's fine I got a Mannlicher-Schoenauer .243 in as new condition to add to that pile. Hey Frank, et al, my membership is in the mail. Lee.

One of us bought the crushed gun for $41.00. Good deal. I could use the trigger guard, if the buyer is listening.

Oh, Lee, what do you think about the gun that this thread was discussing? Oh, by the way, as long as we're discussing things that have no relationship to this thread, congratulations on the .243.

Eightbore, I stand addressed and re-dressed on this thread. Somebody did well on the crushed up gun as the internals were probably ok. That was my thinking when I posted on the other, not knowing what value the barrels may have had considering the condition of the one pictured in the thread. Regards, and thanks for the nudge, Lee.

Lee,
I looked at both of the auctions discussed in this thread and bid on the crushed gun. Worked this weekend and didn't get to follow the auction as closely as needed to win. Wish I had bid more as I believe $41.00 is a deal/steal for the parts that were still useable.
The .243 saved a wasted trip, congratulations.
