I'm starting to work on the Fall 2009 Newsletter. How about some of you guys firing up your computers and getting some articles in here. We really don't want to have everything in the Newsletter written by board members. Two pages of text and two or three pictures works really well.

I have no idea what two-pages of text at 10 or 12 font size comes out to in number of words. Digital 640x480 that I can then compress/size to fit the available space seems to work fine. Early August would be about the latest for this issue, but I don't mind at all having articles on hand for future issues.

Seems about 1,000 words fills a page in the current newsletter format.
To get the number of words, I used the old convevtion of counting all letters and spaces in a line and dividing by 5.

Sorry for the hard questions.
Normal manuscripts with type (remember typewriters?) written page for magazine articles is 250 words. That is still the standard for some publications but they usually specify the word count and eliminate dumb questions such as mine.
A computer page from Word can be as much as 1200.
Thus the question.

Microsoft Word has a word count feature that is pretty easy to use. just learned about it this past fall submitting essays for another venue.
