How often do these come on the makret. what kind of prices are they getting?

Thinking of adding peripheral Fox items to collection.

Brian:

I bought one on this site last November and it cost about $300 including shipping.

When will you return to the US? Take care.

America's Munitions 1917-1918, report of Benedict Crowell, the Assistant Secretary of War, Director of Munitions, Washington, Government Printing Office, 1919. On page 220 where he discussed the Very Flare Pistol -- "In August 1918, we let contracts for 135,000 of the 25-mm pistols and for approximately 30,000 of the 35-mm pistols. The A.H. Fox Gun Co. completed 4,193 of the smaller pistols and Scott & Fetzer Machine Co. turned out 7,750 of them. Other concerns which had taken contracts but had not come into production when the armistice was signed were the National Tool & Manufacturing Co., Doehler Die Castings Co., The Hammond Typewrited Co., and Parker Bros."

Some years ago at a surplus store in Northern Virginia they had a foot locker full of Very Flare Pistols for $49 apiece. I searched thru the trunk for all the Fox pistols, laid them out in a row, selected the best one and bought it. Should have bought them all!! Haven't seen one for less then $250 since.

A few years ago Herschel Chadick n Terrell, Texas had a number of them. I think he was asking $250 each. I don't know if he still has any.

Best Regards, George

When the armories bored them out in the 1" conversion they filed a grove across the grips and put some red paint in it as a visual signal of what shell to use.
