I recently noticed two guns for sale that had serial numbers 6 digits apart. It started me wondering if anybody out there had a consecutive pair? Or guns with close numbers?

Wow! I thought for sure someone would have chimed in on this with a consecutive # gun. I don't own a consecutive serial # gun but I did see one once that was consecutive to one I own. The guns were both 12 gauge A grades. Paul

Hello Foxist, thanks for the reply. I too thought at least one of the members would have a consecutive set of guns or a pair under 10 digits. The two guns I noticed were on Gunbroker. Both were Sterlingworth 16 gauge guns. The barrels on one were 26 inches and the other had barrels of 28 inches. I have not looked to see if they are still up for bid. Were the two guns you mentioned identical or different like the 16's?

I would love to own at least one of the guns consective to my SS, 16 ga CE.
It is a 16 ga, 26",SS, DE shipped to some fellow named, Tyrone Cobb.

I am sure he would want that gun hunting quail and grouse again.

Foxhound the consecutive guns were A grade 12 bores with 28" bbls and semi pistol grips. I do have two 20 bore A grades Serial# 202750 and 202759 both are 26" bbls guns. 750 has pistol grip with IC/MOD and weighs 5lbs. 13oz. while 759 has a half pistol grip, MOD/Full chokes and weighs 6lbs. 4oz.
The top and middle guns are 9 guns apart. Interesting in 202750 was delivered June 15 1928 and 202759 must have been delivered after the Savage takeover because it has its original Savage hang tag.

I have 3 consecutively numbered guns....

259xxx, 259xxy and 259xxz

while not consecutive numbered I own 11392 and 11932 both straight gripped A grades one with 30" barrels and one with 28" one came from the catskill area NY one from the Troy NY and ended up in VT

Foxist: Three 20 bore A grades WOW! Nice picture. Is the bottom gun the earlier A with the real thin grip you brought to the Vintagers? You need to do a Newsletter article on your collection and do a display of your grouse guns at the next Fox gathering! Impressive.

Another member's 12 ga gun's ser # is consecutive to my 12 ga gun.

Not consecutive guns, but perhaps they are consecutive Philly Super Foxes? I have HE 31596 (complete gun) and just the barrels for HE 31581. 14 guns separate them and I would very much like to find the action for 31581. 20+ years of looking have not produced it ....

I would note that the barrels for 31581 fit 31596 like they were a perfect second set. This, I think, is pretty uncommon.

Fox-admin The gun in the center(202750) is the one I hade at the V cup that had the small grip. The grip measures just3 3/4" around which is much smaller than my other 20 bores that all seem to be in the 4 to 4 1/4" circumference range . The bottom gun is is 1927 Vintage with 28" #4 weight bbls. that is actually lighter than the two 26" guns at 5lbs.11oz. Paul

Many years ago I saw the Super-Fox with serial number two lower then mine advertised for sale, but that is as close as I've come. I have two straight gripped 28-inch barrel 12 gauges that are 14 numbers apart. The lower numbered gun, the A-Grade was shipped July 1, 1914, and the B-Grade was shipped September 23, 1918.

Well, my reply is probably a bit off-topic. I did stumble across a very close relative to one of my guns by helping someone out with a question.
Not a Fox, but a 28" Krupp barreled 1 1/2 grade 16 bore. It is XXX579 and I own XXX576. Seemed like 'fate' at the time, so I bought it. They are nearly a matched pair. Honestly, I hope that #'s 577 and 578 don't show up too soon.
But I thought that I'd just share that 'it could happen'.
