I have added pictures in the Sterlingworth forum of a new purchase. Thanks to my friend who agreed to part with this great gun.

I have 372989 in pretty much the same configuration. Had the chokes opened up years ago to .005 and .015 by Keith Kearcher. Just happened to take it out yesterday for a preserve hunt in Inwood WV. It accounted for its share of pheasants put up in front of me and my buddies by two springers and my aging golden. I think the 28" swings better for me personally, although I do have a soft spot in my heart for 26" SW when I'm in Maine and shooting at woodcock that are 15 yards away.

Vaturkey, have you gotten a letter on your gun?

Nice 16-gauge Sterlingworth. Is it an ejector gun? Would you guys mind emailing me complete serial numbers and info on your guns? So far I have only recorded one 16-gauge Sterlingworth with a single trigger and that gun, 372995, a Savage-era gun had the single non-selective trigger that was only catalogued from mid-1932 thru 1934.

Haven't gotten letters on my SW's (I have three). I have gotten a letter on my A grade 16 s/n 300033 (yes the 33rd 16 gauge ever made). That gun left the factory with 26" IC/Mod barrels, 14 1/8" LOP and 2 1/2" DAH. Weight was a robust (just kidding 5 lb 10 oz). Mr. Callahans letter said was shipped on 1 Oct 1913 to Goshorn Hardware Co. It however was returned to the factory and resold on 17 Nov 1913 to Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Co. located in Boston, Ma.

I purchased her several years ago at a small dealership located in Front Royal Va, were she was thought to be a SW 16, I believe because she had the early snap on type forearm.

PS. She is my go to gun for Maine Woodcock. Almost too light for hunting where you might want a sustained lead in shooting. However she is awesome on woodcock.

Hey, decided to add the following. This is my 20 gauge SW with the better part of a Virginia limit from Sept 07. That's my Golden's nose in the picture.

Do you by chance have a picture of your A Grade 16 forearm that shows the checkering pattern. I own a C-16ga that is only 28 guns later than yours with the snap off forearm. It has a pattern that I haven't found before. I'm just curious to see another graded gun of the same vintage.

Thanks,
Paul

mc15426378 That is a very nice 16 bore Sterlingworth. You just dont see many early philly sterly's with kautsky triggers because it cost almost three quarters the price of a sterlingworth, add ejectors and the sum of the options was greater than the price of a standard sterlingworth. Paul

Not now but I will.

Don't have a picture of just the forearm, but I'll certainly be glad to take one and post it in the next few days.
