Looking forward to the Southern, how about u?

Post by fox-admin »

The BIG event of the year, is only two weeks away, The Southern! For me a chance to get out of snow country and enjoy some summer weather and the buzz of the event. My group leaves the Rochester, NY area on Wednesday and drive to southern PA ,then shoot Central Penn with good friend Daryl Corona. We arrive in Sanford NC, Deep River Sporting Clays about noon on Thursday. Thursday we shoot the Dove Field 5 Stand, shop the tents and meet and greet old friends in the back parking area. Everyone brings out a trunk full of new additions and guns for sale. Friday morning we travel to Drakes Landing Sporting Clays to shoot with Fox and Parker guys. Friday afternoon we shoot the 8ga field course and the 8ga 5 stand. Friday night is the PGCA Annual Meeting. Saturday morning is back to Drakes Landing, the afternoon is back to Deep River to watch the Parker/Smith Challenge. Sunday we make the 12 hour drive home. Let us know if your attending. The Fox Booth is the central meeting spot. The Southern is the event where your not really looking for a new gun, but more likely than not, a must have Fox appears!! I have attended the Southern for many years and bought only two gun as I recall, but one is the best XE 12ga I own. Fingers crossed another must have Fox appears.

Rich Anderson (COB) and I will leave Michigan Tuesday morning. Wednesday afternoon I’ll be at Deep River to set up the Fox Booth with Tom and Kevin. I’m looking forward to a good road trip and another great event . Hope to see you there.

Looking forward to connecting with friends from across the country and meeting new members and guest at the Fox booth! I’ll be leaving Wednesday morning from MI with a stop in WV to visit some Family and finish the drive early Thursday morning. I am hoping to see some nice guns and looking forward to one of those sweet guns that come out of the woodwork and show up at the Southern!!

I'd been planning to do Drakes Landing and the Southern but it's not in the cards this year. I wish all of you safe driving and a great time. frank

I'll be there good lord willing. Suffered a nasty dog bite last week that is requiring some doctor visits to get right. I'm thinking it will be healed up ok by then. PS. Dog jumped a fence and attacked my Llew. Got the Llew away and into the back of the 4 Runner and went to the house to let them know the dog was out and the dog tried to eat me. Two doctor visits since. Dog bites from a big dog are painful and slow healing. Thank goodness I was wearing blue jeans or it would have been much worse. Dog was about 65 lbs Sheppard mix.

That is so nasty looking Tom. Good luck with your recovery. I hope your dog wasn’t traumatized as well.

Have you ever had problems with your neighbors or their dogs before?

Hopefully the dog gets put down. Unprovoked that dog is a real danger. I would make a call to your local animal control and file a report. If they don't agree to put the dog down I would get a lawyer and sue the owners for pain and suffering. Nasty bit, hopefully the dog had a rabies shot. Hope your all recovered and make the Southern, it wouldn't be the same without you. Craig

I filed a report with animal control and they paid the folks a visit. I noticed today they are having their fence strengthened/repaired. Dog has escaped before, but this was apparently the first time he has bitten someone. He had one bite into Sophies back leg before I broke it up and I treated the wound with antibiotic cream and gave her Doxy. She is fine now. This isn't over. Was reported to the County Health Office as well by me. Dog had his rabies shot, but is still under house arrest for 10 days.

I'm on massive doses of antibiotic as well as Tramadol for the pain. HOA was contacted as well and they are reaching out to the owner. The owner IMO is a hard case. Probably likes to have a tough dog. Has signs on his front door and fence to beware of dog.

Hope you heal up Tom. Doesn’t sound or look like fun at all.
