Back to shooting Clays

Yesterday I made the 60 mile trek up to Blackjack Sporting Clays. They have 3 traditional Clays courses and one super clays course. After spending this Fall bird hunting and deer hunting it felt good to throw a few clays. There was a big event from “The Villages” so the parking lot was full, but nary a SxS in site. Later I bumped into one guy shooting a modern Dickinson, so I complemented him on his choice of barrel orientation. In the club house I noticed Lloyd, who shoots .410’s 3 times a week. He’s a friend of Dave and Barb Wundrow and is always eager to talk. Then I was approached by a guy named Neil who said that he was part owner of Stegmeier, LLC, the cement company. Unfortunately, we are not related. Why am I sharing all of this, because it’s nice to hang out at a clays course. You usually find good people.

Enjoy Jeff, it's been cold as heck in western NY. I miss my winter vacations in Florida and shooting at the Sarasota Gun Club.

I envy you my friend. Enjoy every minute of it. It's been an unusally cold December here in Maryland and I'll shoot every chance I get as long as the temps are in the 40's. Anything lower than that keeps me off the course. Winter sucks.

Next week I’m heading back to Michigan to have Christmas with the grandkids. I’m going to bring a couple guns down with me. Want me to pick you up? 😁

Must be a sporting clays thing shooting side by sides because you sure don't see them at trap shoots. :!:

There is a member over on the Parker site that does quite well with his Parker SxS double and single trap guns.

I'm sure with a larger trap shooting base in the US you would see some SxS in action especially at vintage events but in Canada the # of ATA trap shooters is so small nowadays I probably know each and every one in Alberta and Saskatchewan and a handful in a few other provinces. I have never seen a SxS except once in practice on a trap range and twice on a skeet field many years ago.
