Ithaca, like Lefever, had some of the nicest wood even on their lower grades.

Daryl, I’m with you. Gun for Gun and Grade for Grade I feel like Ithaca had the nicest wood! BJF

Ithaca used primarily American Black Walnut all the way up while Parker Bros. and A.H. Fox went to European Walnut on their better grades. Until The Great War A.H. Fox used European Walnut on all their graded guns except the Sterlingworth.
Do have to say this George Ryman 16-gauge NID looks a lot better than the John Bailey 16-gauge NID --

Ithaca engraving is pretty spectacular too.
