I have a 20ga custom Fox project I’m hoping gets started this summer. Was planning on using Gournet for the engraving )c: I’m just wondering about other engravers and have seen some work that Mr. Demunck has done that I liked. Does anyone know if he is still doing engraving work and if he will do commission work or does CSMC have him under a contract. Also I’m looking for any contact info for him, if anyone can help out I would really appreciate it.

I’m also open to other options as well.

I see and shoot with Jim when the weather isn't too bad. He's not a fan of shooting in cold, windy weather. I shot with him about 2 weeks ago when we had a nice break in the weather.

I'm thinking he is not looking for any engraving work, at least not any large scale jobs. But, ya never know.

I don't want to give out his contact info but I'll send him a link to your note and let him decide. He may Reply thru me and if he does, I'll let you know.

It would be nice if he offers to do your work, he's done some fantastic work. I've seen a lot of it and have 4 pieces done by him.

By the way, what part of the country do you live?

I truly appreciate it. I was leaning towards an early DE pattern similar to one that Tut had Gournet do for him. Then I saw The Quail Gun that Jim did for CSMC and changed my mind. I really fell in love with Jim’s work. I have attached some pictures of
Jim’s Quail Gun.

If you have any pictures of your guns I would love to see them.

Gorgeous piece of wood you have picked out. Be nice to see it on a custom Fox, especially if done by Jim.

And following this note are some pictures of the 4 guns that I have that have been done by Jim.

I haven't heard anything from Jim yet.

Here's some pictures of a Winchester Model 61 in .22 WMR by Jim. He restocked it with new wood, checkered and finished it. Engraved the metal parts and reblued them.

Here's a Smith & Wesson .38/44 Jim did. He started with a basic gun, did the engraving, moved the S&W logo from the right side and put it on the left side and used that space to put that gold mountain lion. Ivory grips too.

Here's a Meriden Model 15 pump .22. Jim just added the engraving to an otherwise very nice Meriden.

And here's a Baby Browning .25ACP before and after by Jim.

Just beautiful work Bill, each one in its own way! You’re very lucky man.

That model 61 would sure be something for a young boy or girls 1st rabbit/squirrel gun (c; Hope you’ve got family to pass you treasures down to.

I’m usually not one for gold inlays but have been thinking of possibly having a gold woodcock added to the top lever of the gun in honor of Mr. Gournet. As he was pretty well known for his little bog sucker (c;

I got a Reply from Jim DeMunck:

"I'm not looking for any new work. I don't have my FFL anymore so I can't really accept firearms for work.
Keeping busy and trying to complete my own projects that never got done in the last 50+yrs is my goal now.
But I certainly thank him for his consideration."

I was thinking that was the case with Jim.

I've seen some of his projects that he's worked on or is still in the process.

An example is what he calls his Queen Anne flintlock muzzle loading rifle - about .50 cal IIRC. Started with the lock parts shown below and ended up with a gorgeous muzzle loader. We've shot it several times. He did everything: the stock, lock, barrel, cleaning rod, patch box, butt plate, etc.
