WOW! Look at all those green heads! And look at that big smile.
And you guys were thinking you'd be frozen out at the start of the 2nd split season. Looks like you'll have several more days of some open water and hopefully, some great hunting.
Well done Craig.

Congratulations to “Mr. Duck Hunter”. A Super and a lot of mallards. Looks like a dream hunt.

Looks like a grand time. In my youth the boys and I would put on our ice skates after a hard freeze and skate the swamps from open water to open water where the springs kept the ice at bay and jump shoot mallards and occasionally coots. Good times. Got wet more than once but it was pretty shallow in the spots we tried to keep to.

Wonderful pictures, and amazing duck hunting. You must be the best duck “caller” in the club. By the way…. Not only am I envious of your hunting prowess, but also very envious of New York’s bag limits.

Jeff I was hunting with two other members so those pictures are two 18 bird limits. I can't explain how many ducks were in our marsh but it was in the thousands. Montezuma Refuge was frozen and we have a creek that runs through our marsh that rarely freezes until it gets really cold. The birds are roosting on our marsh and feeding in close by corn fields. It was the prefect set up for us and a spectacle I will never forget.

I never runout of shells Lol. This time of year i use my remaining supply of Kent TM 2 3/4 #3. These are the best shells ever made for late season big ducks in my opinion. Too bad Kent has stopped making them. Anyone have some for sale.

What Craig said - Kent TM or Bismuth #3s are just the ticket for the end of season red legs, we also used them for Brant shooting in coastal NJ in the shallow back bays behind Stone Harbor, Sea Isle City and and Avalon. More than adequate for the job! Kevin
