My brother and I went back to the lake today. A beautiful morning with a few more ducks in the air. I was lucky enough to get a nice big drake with my Super, and John got a goose and a drake with his DEaster Bunny gun. Good times!

I was out again yesterday here in NE PA and bagged a grouse (one of three flushed) with a Parker and a woodcock using a Fox. Weather continues very dry and unseasonably hot; woods hunting is pretty noisy while walking in the dry leaves. Plenty of ticks and every return to the vehicle means a good hair and skivvies brushdown. I had one just starting to embed on Tuesday and got the usual dose of doxycycline. I passed through the pheasant stocking areas on the way to some covers and saw plenty of hunters but no road walker birds. One of the area game wardens came by and we talked a while about the weather conditions, cover improvement work being done by the PGC and its "put and take" pheasant strategy. He also gave me a tip on a more remote area where he's seeing some grouse. Also talked with two other grouse hunters who had one fantail miss and 2 of the three woodcock flushed. Their dogs were having a ball cooling off in a small mountain stream. On the duck scene, very few in my local haunts. Overall, I'm wishing for some rain and colder weather. frank

I believe that the gun was restocked at one time, but whoever did it, “did it right”. It looks nice. There is not a card on file for this gun so nobody knows if it matches the original.

Saturday was opening day of geese here in our zone. Hunted a corn field just to the north of our marsh with son Doug and three others from our club. Did the whole deal with 80 big foot decoys and layout blinds. The clear weather and lack of wind made it hard but we put 5 on the ground. The geese are just starting to arrive around here. I shot my Fox A and Doug his Sterlingworth 12ga, we both used TM 2 3/4" #3's 1 1/4oz.

Nice picture Craig.

This morning my brother got 2 geese and I shot one. He was using his DE and I was using my Super. At 9:30 at least 100 geese (no kidding) landed out in the middle of the lake. Fifteen minutes later they decided to leave and some flew directly over me. Dropped one with 1 1/4 oz of #4 bismuth. Big fun!
