Request for pics

I'm beginning a project that will require me to have some close up (is macro the right term?) pics of Fox case-hardened actions, that have a very high percentage of the ORIGINAL colors remaining. If any members here have access to pics of early, and late, production Fox guns with very high amounts of original case color I would be extremely grateful for them. I have specimens that have good remaining color on the forend iron, but need to see how they looked on the action itself. The gun that Tom just posted pics of, on the HE 20 thread, is a good example, but if I could get some even more close up to the action it would be better.

A big thanks to Jolly Bill as well, who also shared many fine close-up photos with me via e-mail.

I will print these out, enlarged, and study the colors and patterns in an attempt to chemically re-color actions, without subjecting them to the rigors of high temp case-hardening. The process I will be using will not harm an action, or parts, in any way, and can be easily polished off if unsuccessful in matching the old process colors, but will actually react with the steel itself to produce the colorings. It is not a paint or stain.

Here is close up pics of a mid 30’s Sterlingworth Wildfowl gun. Note the “Tiger Stripe” cyanide colors of the era along with the polish line on the rear of frame even w/barrel flats that was common for the time period. Also of note is the “Sterlingworth” is hand engraved which is a bit unusual. Didn’t really pay attention to that until a friend pointed it out when we were looking at it a couple of weeks ago.
