Happy New Year from Va

Post by vaturkey »

Tough year in Virginia in my home area in Va, but a few birds found. Couple of birds got pointed and the upgraded Fox ejector Sterlingworth in 20 gauge knocked them down. Nice way to start the year.

PS. Amazing how a gun made to fit you makes a difference. Woodcock shooting is like trying to hit a gnat flying around a phone booth with a fly swatter. Having a custom made fly swatter helps for sure. Happy New Year. PS. More photos already sent to Mike S.

Indeed. Both were. That said, Sophie was the one who found them first and retrieved both.

Tom, that’s a very nice picture. I Love the wood and checkering, and I’m glad that you’re happy with your new gun.

This is my meat gun Jeff. I've been shooting if for several years. Its taken lots and lots of different birds from Kansas to Michigan. Bit light for Roosters, but wonderful for Grouse/Woodcock and Quail. What I and other call a great "little brown bird" gun. These pics taken at various times in Va.

Tom, you always set your pictures up nicely!

I'm a little more ham-handed when it comes to setting things up for the shot.

Thanks Roger. I try to figure out somehow to show off the bird or the gun fairly close so folks can see a close up of each. Cell phones are super because I'll take 20 pics and then go back and really look them over and delete 90 percent of them. Its much harder to get the dog to pose in exactly the right spot after I get everything else set up. They would much rather chase birds then pose.

Found another pic of the gun after it was restocked, but before it became an A grade. Not the best. Pic taken 6 years ago.

Not this one. I had that done to my 20 gauge custom that I sold last year.
