Steve, do you know who did the engraving? Is it signed? Hell of a rifle - would it be adequate for wild boar? Kevin

Kevin, this is just my opinion (from one who hunts wild hogs year around), but the .44 WCF (.44-40} isn't what I'd want in a hog round. Hogs come in all sizes, and I've killed smallish ones cleanly with a .22 Magnum. But, when you say wild boar it conjures up the idea of big, tough boars in the 300 pound+ range. Another thing to consider is if you want to anchor the hog on the spot or can you be satisfied with a lung shot that results in a dead hog some distance away. They're tough to put down, barring a head shot. I'd like more energy for trying to anchor a big boar on site..
