Factory Letters?

I recently sent away for a Callahan letter on my Fox.
May I ask, what is Mr. Callahan's background and relationship with Savage/Fox? Or, how does he have access to the factory records?
Thanks-

The original person doing the letters was Roe S. Clark Jr., after he retired as Service Manager at Savage. I believe John later held that same job.

Eric, just to let you know it typically takes ~ 8weeks to get your letter. At least it has for me. Sometimes you get lucky and it comes sooner. Just the way it is. Silvers

I'll have to pull up a chair and wait! Something to look forward to, I guess.

Is Mr. Callahan sending refunds if no information can be found?

He has not when I have had this happen. Recently his turn around time has been somewhat fast but I believe this is variable do to many factors.

So, we have one poster who says that Mr. Callahan does not give a refund when he does not have information. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Bill,
You are paying for the search for the record. Time and effort is the nearly the same record or not. If you send photos of your gun along with your request Mr Callahan will help you to identify what you have even if there is no record. He will send you a letter describing what you have and the approximate delivery date. It comes on a nice letter head. He is very helpful.
Liken it to hiring a lawyer, win or lose you have to pay for the effort.

Last batch I sent, 4 graded guns, two came back with no letters. I still paid the nut for each one.
