Duck Opener

Post by Jeff S »

Saturday was our opener in the “southern zone” and I was greeted by a steady rain. There were a few wood ducks flying around, but I never pulled the trigger. Sunday was better, gray skies and no rain. I got 3 nice woodies by 10:00 and was happy to call it a day. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I just love duck hunting my 1914 “B”. At 7 lbs. with 28” barrels both choked .030” it’s a delight in the blind. It’s good to be out in the blind on a nice Fall day.

Thanks for the report Jeff, three beautiful wood ducks. Our opener is Saturday and heavy rain predicted UGG. I have two Foxes packed up my SF C-HE and the pawn shop DE. Looks like both will get wet. I hope the teal. woodies and widgeon will stay for a bit as they make our early season if they stay around. Visited our marsh today and not much movement. Fingers crossed.

I’m looking forward to seeing a picture of Nellie and the pawn shop gun with a mess of mallards. Good luck!
