The names on the barrel I'm not finding much information on.
I think one is the maker and maybe the other an area in Germany it came from ?
It does have nitro on the barrel also.
I'll post water table pictures either later tonight when I get back home or tomorrow.
It's a pretty gun with a Monte Carlo stock that is very light weight.

Good pictures of the barrel flats, watertable and possibly the bottom of the barrels out to the forearm loop are what those who know and understand European proof marks, maker's marks and date markings will need.

Go to the doublegunshop.com and click on German and Austrian guns, someone will be able to help you. “Ellenbr”, and “canvasback” have been very helpful to me in the past.

I don't see a MC stock on the next to last pic? Is that the same gun you're asking about? Or did you mean it has a cheekpiece? frank

Beautiful! I love those little European 16’s, lovely and light. When I first glanced at the name I got excited because I’ve looked for a 16 Uhlig. Close, but no cigar.
When I was searching for information on Walter Uhlig, I found this old thread that suggests that the name on the barrel is actually the retailer, not the manufacturer. I don’t know this for fact, I’m just sharing someone else’s post. Good luck with your search. I’ll bet that gun has killed a few grouse in its life.

Greener cross bolt and cocking indicators. Did I mention that I like your gun?

Crown over U is the View mark.
Crown over W is the proof of choke bore barrel.
16 in circle is the gauge.
I suspect the 16/1 indicates the bore diameter.
No indication of a nitro proof.

Thanks again.
The nittro I see is on the outside of the barrel on the left hand side David.

You did now and it's appreciated

.
This gun a friend of mine picked up from the same gentleman that I recently picked up a 16 gauge Jp Sauer and Sohn gun from.
He needed some cash and asked if I wanted it for what he paid.
I hemmed and hawed for a few seconds and jumped in.
Jeff
The picture from the top didn't do the gun any justice.
Here is a better one.

I didn't notice but both barrels are stamped nitro on the outside.
I'm not good with the stampings.
I did try to find this one and couldn't.
Anybody know it's meaning ?
It seems odd to me there would be no makers identity but I'm pretty new at any and all doubles.
