Fox Collectors

Who is planning on attending? I sure would like to see a good showing of Fox guns especially on the 5 stand Fox International Challenge. I'll be running the event all day Thurs so stop buy and say Hi then try your hand at our premier event.

Unfortunately I’ll only be able to attend Friday.
I plan to shoot 20 Ga and 12 Ga side events and whatever else time allows.
Any are invited to shoot with myself and my buddy. We plan to arrive first thing in the morning and get on a course before the crowds hit.

I will be there Thursday early afternoon to Friday afternoon.

Will be there helping man the Fox booth with Kevin and will also be shooting my Skeet and Upland 16 gauge at the 5 stand event.

Truck is all packed hoping to roll in a little after 8 tomorrow. I’ve never shot at Warrington before so I’m looking forward to trying it out.

Wish I could join you gentlemen. Unfortunately we have a family commitment this weekend and our grouse opener is next week. Living vicariously through you all this weekend! Shoot straight!!

I was there today, Thursday, with The Lovely Linda. We left before the weather emergency, about which we know nothing. Let's have a report. The guns on display and for sale in the big tent were outrageous. Better than any previous Vintagers, in my opinion.

It was nice chatting with you. Certainly a nice vendor tent full of vintage firearms.

I was at the VC on Thursday and Friday and it was nice to see, talk and shoot with some of my Fox and other maker friends. Mostly regulars at SxS events but I also met a few newer aficionados. I came home with one gun less than I took and was looking in particular for a good hammer 12 ga but couldn't find one that suited me or was priced right. The PA Dealer who was set up for legal 4473 gun transfers was really efficient and on-line capable which saved mucho time for out of state approvals. One good member friend scored on a honest/unusual high Grade Fox but it's not my place to write about it. My CE Fox "Matilda" did well on the 12 ga hammerless course. I missed on the signup sheet that there was another event just for American Classics. It was a nice but longish 10/12 g sporting clays course with good targets and I was fortunate to have been invited to ride on a golf cart owned by a new friend. I watched but didn't have time to shoot the 5-stand. Many vendors, though not quite as many as I recall when the VC was at Orvis Sandanona or Pintail Point. I did return with many flats of 20, 28 and 410 shells at good prices from Shydas who was set up at the event. The food vendors were efficient except during lunch overload and prices were good. Overall the VC at Warrington was a good scene and methinks those who are within a few hours and had the time but didn't make the event, missed a good one. I'm still thinking about the hammer double I made a good offer on but couldn't get the seller to compromise, and I'll contact the Dealer next week after he returns to home base to see if it was sold or if not if he's agreeable to that offer. frank

Overall a pretty good event and I would definitely go back.
We arrived early around 8 registration was pretty easy and they had breakfast sandwiches available onsite which was nice.

The 20 Ga red course had fair targets more of a hunters clays course. The 12 Ga orange course having a few moderate presentations that I enjoyed with my A Grade 12 Ga. Certainly everything was shootable if you did your part.
My one critique was that they tried to thread the needle on a few stands and if the wind shifted slightly or due to wet clays resulted in clays being launched into a tree. They then changed a few stations which would not pass the muster at a registered shoot.

I had built a decent score on the 20 Ga but lost my head on station 3 which honestly was not a difficult station but it knocked me down .
Did a little better on the 12 Ga course only had two bad stations as a little squall came in but thems the breaks !

I felt the vendor tent was one of the best I’ve seen! Plenty of eye candy of all makes and models to fondle. I feel in love with a 28 Ga Beretta SO with grouse engraved side plates until I saw the $95K tag!

I did come home with a new arrow for my quiver. I did not previously have a 28 Ga SxS for clay shooting and upland. I managed to find a nice CSMC RBL 28 Ga with 30 inch barrels that spoke to me. Made an offer and was soon off to the Shydas table for the FFL transfer. I’ll try to harvest a grouse and woodcock with her this fall.

It was good to catch up with TUT and see some gorgeous blanks! If I get around to a restock project I’ll be sure to plead for a consultation!

I did manage to take a few minutes of video so I will work on a YouTube video this week.
