Fox Collectors

So I’ve heard many mixed reviews on CSMC but was wondering if anybody has had any experiences or insight on what they’re making with these? Basically are they worth the money? They’re currently 24% off and am entertaining the thought.

I have a friend who bought one in 20 gauge because he wanted to used off the shelf ammo and HTL ammo for ducks etc. He likes the gun a lot and thinks it handles well. He did buy the 20 gauge with the straight stock. He also has some original Foxes. PS. Its basically the RBL as far as I know just made to look like a Fox by sculpting the receiver. BTW, he said CSMC customer service was trash. Gun was supposed to come with a hard case and didn't. He asked where it was and they sent him a used case with the insides all broken up and said that's all they had available.

Thanks for that feedback, I appreciate it. I just got off the phone with one of the sales guys that I worked with a couple of years ago when I got my 16 gauge sterlingworth from them. And yes, they are the RBL just not quite as embellished. I have an appointment to go into the actual store/manufacturing plant in New Britain since I live a half an hour from there tomorrow and I was going to go look at them. Since I would be able to do the transfer there, I could make sure that I got everything I was supposed to at the time. 3250 may not be a lot of money to a lot of people but to me this is a relatively bigger investment.

If you would, keep us informed on how you did getting that new Fox from CSMC. And then too, if you get one and how well it handles and any problems.

I am sure it is a fine gun, but it has nothing to do with a Fox, except for the name and the attempt at some Fox-is engraving on the side of the frame. It is apples to oranges really.

I personally do not care so much about he mechanics of the gun. The aesthetics really are the major issue. They really missed the mark on this one, big time. The gun could have been made to LOOK like a fox in so many areas and could have been a very attractive gun in that regard. A few little things could have made all the difference.

I opted not to get one as I have heard sooo many stories on CSMC's customer service and product support that I will just look for an older well kept original.

I almost bought on of those Savage Foxes at Hausman's in the spring. There was a new looking 20 for about $3,000 on one of the tables but it had the shorter stock so I passed.

At one time I had RBL's in both 16 and 20 gauge, and the slug gun. I sold the 16 off because at the end of the day it was too heavy for the what I wanted to hunt with it. I still have the 20's and I like them just fine but I wish it had double triggers.

I get what Brian is saying and I agree they don't hold a candle to a real Fox, but I do actually like its looks better than the RBL's. I do wish they didn't put that laser engraving on the breech balls. It looks cheep.

So far I have not had a problem with my RBL's and I like the fact that I can feed them anything without worrying about shell length, recoil and pressure curves.
