Fox Catalog Sales
The August 2022 Ward's Auction closed last night and again there were some good buys on Fox catalogs. For some reason this 40-page "A Fox Gets the Game" catalog --

was in the "Calendars, Posters, Adver., Env., & Paper" category.
While two Savage era A.H. Fox catalogs were in the "Books & Magazines" category?

Meanwhile the heavy hitters were on ebay for this big 1914 "A Fox Gets the Game" catalog.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
I don't think there is a great information bank on the values of Fox paper. Those in the know already have established collections and are not looking for more. Dave Noreen is the exception rather than the rule.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
I still "need" three of the "Campfire" Catalogs. I don't have No. 22 & No. 23, and though I don't have an original No. 25, I've got a couple of the Fox Products reprints. Also, the survival rate of the little black & white pocket "The Finest Gun in the World" catalogs --
seems to be so poor; I don't know what I don't have.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
Dave, do you think that Pat McKune's system for selling his collection is the right one? It doesn't seem like he is selling the individual items at a great rate. I won't ask the obvious question because it will probably violate our forum rules.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
I would think that Dana's collection would have brought more selling one piece at a time, but that might well take years and I'm sure his heirs weren't up for that.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
A couple of nice A.H. Fox Gun Co. catalogs currently up on ebay -- a 1908 "Campfire" Catalogue No. 21, and a misidentified 1928-29.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
Dave - I assume you say the seller indicated “1932” catalog on EBay is misidentified because this catalog was only insured from 1928-1930 and the 1930 catalog would have a pasted on Savage address on the front cover?
Can you please post photos of the price sheets that came with the 1928 and 1929 catalogs with same cover?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
I've got this picture of a 1929 retail price list --
On the 1928 the Super-Fox was still $79.60.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
The earliest "A Fox Gets the Game" pocket catalogs I've found have the prices printed in them. One has the 1914 & 1915 prices and another the 1917 prices. The next ones I have have the inserted price sheets for 1919. The inserted IMPORTANT--Change of Prices sheets are the same size and format from 1919 thru 1929. I have yet to find a catalog with 1918 prices either printed in the catalog or on a separate price sheet. I have seen a 1918 Jobbers Price List --
but didn't win the ebay auctions for it and a 1920.

Re: Fox Catalog Sales
Still good demand out there for sporting collectibles -- $760 for the 1908 "Campfire" Catalogue No. 21, and $250 for the misidentified 1928-29.Researcher wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 11:33 am A couple of nice A.H.
