I just purchased a A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 20 guage. I find that the Rec is for a 16 gauge and barrels are 20 gauge. Also the safty to push off and on is very hard to do. What is the remedy.

Thanks

Lew

I'm not trying to be unkind here. It sounds like a cobbled up gun and the barrel breeches probably don't match the breech balls. Not likely that the barrels are properly on the face. Send it back for a refund. There are plenty of good honest 16 and 20g Sterlies out there.

Agree, what Frank said.

Pictures would help though, there may be more to it since you may not know what you don't know.

You will definitely get an honest opinion.

The gun is an excellant shotgun, there is not defects what so ever. The gentleman that owned it before me shot phasants with it for 25 years, and you call it a piece of junk That is uncalled for.

Well Lew, you posted here in this Parts and Pieces Forum about a mismatched Fox. Please keep in mind that cobbled up isn’t the same as calling it junk. Not sure where you got that from. Anyway, mea culpa. My apologies. Now in your second post here it sounds like a Fox to be proud of with a long history of phasant hunting, and it’s one you'll probably want to share with us in more detail. I think most here would like to see pics of your Fox and to include closeups showing how the barrels match up with the breech balls, a front end pic of the standing breech (barrels removed) to see the areas of contact, and one or two showing the frame and barrel serial numbers. Picture posting directions are in the first thread in the Fox Collectors Forum. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

More information always leads to a better conclusion. frank

Sorry for sounding so grumpy. I have waited a long time to get a Fox so I got a little carried away. I just got a new i phone and will try and take some picture and get them posted.
