Huge turnout at the Dulles VA gun show today. A few Foxes for sale, including a couple of SW 12 ga pin guns, and a SW Utica gun (1932) with flat receivers. Had a nice talk with fellow member eightbore while there.
One very nice C grade 16 ga in good shape, and two early A (one an AE)grade 20 ga guns, again both in nice shape. All three small bore graded guns looked close to, if not all, original. Both the 20 gauges had the small, light ANSLEY H FOX stamping on the recieiver, 1912 era or close.

NJdblgun, I talked to the early A Grade non ejector 12 gauge guy. Please email me a rehash of our conversation about that gun. I may like it enough to make an offer.
wilmrph@verizon.net Odd to see two first generation A Grade 20s at one show.

Just curious. What was the asking price for the C-Grade 16ga?

The early A grade 20s were 3395 and 3595 to the best of my memory. The 16 ga C grade non-ejector was 5995. They were all nice. The 16 ga really appealed to me, if I sell a couple of guns, then maybe....

I was there this morning and saw the guns mentioned. I too was eyeballing the C grade 16 but I also need to make some room. The 12ga Skeet and Upland game gun a couple rows over was tempting. I was impressed with the number of decent Foxes there but I still haven't found my 20ga CE with factory straight stock, splinter and DTs. Probably for sale right next to the Holy Grail....

There were many nice early A and Sterlingworth guns in well worn condition suitable for upgrades or projects. One nice ejector Sterly 12, encrusted in fairly recent light rust would have been a good buy for someone. Two of my nicest Sterlys were bought in similar condition, neither over $350.00.

Sounds like a good show. What were the barrel lengths on the 16 C grade?

I think the 16 C had 28" tubes but can't recall for sure. Did anyone else think it had been restocked?

Brian, just conferred with another member who was at the show, and we both remember the 16ga C grade was an extractor, not ejector gun. Didnt get any specs, sorry. Also, some discussion as to how much restoration may have been done, if any. Hope all is well.

Does anyone remember the high condition J Grade Trap that was at the show? I couldn't pay for it at the show, so got the owner's contact information and called him when I got home. I picked the gun up today. It was on the table for three full days. Did anyone see it? It is the best J Grade I've seen since I saw the 400,568 gun which was mint and untouched, but had lever position problems. The gun I purchased is #400,176, a Philadelphia gun. By the way, who bought the J Grade on gunbroker.com last week? It was probably one of us. Who was the unsuccessful second place finisher? It looked like a very nice gun.

Eightbore Congrats on the J grade. I am glad to see you got it. Please bring it along to Hidden Hollow. I hear they are planning to have a single barrel trap shoot. I will most likely be shooting my new Parker Bros SB grade single there. I Know its not a Fox but I have always had a soft spot for Parker Singles. Paul
Eightbore I also was looking at the J on gunbroker but could not tell much from the pictures. It did appear to be reblued from the washed out bbl. stamping but I could not say for sure. The stock looked original which was a big plus for a trap gun. You know how hard it can be to find a trap gun with its original stock and no modifications. Paul
Post some pics of the J when you get a chance.

I can't post a picture any more than I can fly. However, the gun (400,176) is loaded up with color, a painfully plain all original English Walnut stock with deteriorated leather faced Silver pad. Ball grip, sharp checkering, apparently never shot trap. Gun is tight as new with no locking bolt or lever position problem like is seen often on used Fox singles. I couldn't be happier since I didn't buy 400,568 several years ago for some ridiculous reason. That highest number Fox single was about mint with yellowish Savage case colors but terrible lever position, obviously a victim of poor assembly, not extensive use. I hope one of us owns that gun today.
