Craig:

Where did you find the factory card information?

When you look at the serial numbers you wonder if the first three all went to the same duck club. Perhaps it was three guys having a few drinks that all decided to order the perfect gun. It would have been fun to have been there.

That 28392 bored for #7 and #7 1/2 shot with no safety, a beavertail forearm and a straight comb sounds like Lawrence Pancoast wanted a hefty pigeon or trap gun.

Eightbore, got any records of old Lawrence's shooting?

Researcher, it's a lot easier when we know the state where the person was located, but I'll give it a try. I have spent enough time in the Fox cards to know how lacking in information they are. By the way, I'm still working on my end of the "project" but it isn't getting anywhere fast. I'll keep trying.

I searched for HE 28392 on the AHFCA web site and found this old thread.

Steve Barnett Fine Guns has her for sale now on his website.

(Note that adding a web link to a gun for sale is not allowed on this forum, but you can Google Mr. Barnett's name and find his web site easily.)

You will note that HE 28392 currently is in much different configuration than that listed on the factory card.

Looking at the factory card info, WOW, what a heavy HE for a 30" barrel gun and what great modern shooting dimensions, with the high super flat straight stock, rare Philly beavertail, and single trigger.

Yes, Mr. Pancoast must have been an avid trap and/or live bird shooter.

Sure wish I could have found her in original configuration!

If you google Lawrence Pancoast, you get the idea he may be the guy of that name who lived in Missouri, Ohio, or Maryland. In 1923, 1926, 1930, and 1938, no one by that name shot ATA birds in those states. He either lived somewhere else or did not shoot ATA. Still, it's a heck of a gun.

George,

Does HE 29903 have an original Philly beavertail FE?

If so, could you post a photo of the FE wood and checkering and the underside FE iron for reference purposes - thanks.

scaupman: It does have a BTFE. I don't know if it's original or not. I will post pictures ASAP.
