I have been collecting and shooting Fox guns for a long time. My long range objective has been to collect a very nice representative example of A.H. Fox guns B grade to D grade, early and late style engraving. I have-had two unfilled slots, one a early engraved style D and a early engraved style B. So I have finally scored on the early style engraved BE and I am a very happy guy! Hard to beat the early Fox guns for quality. I will add picture when I have some time.

Craig,

From that one picture you posted, you're not likely to find one much better. And an ejector gun to boot.

That sure is a sweetie.

Yes, please, more pictures when you have time.

Jolly

Looks to be a very nice one, Craig. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I certainly have enjoyed my late style engraved BE, though it is restocked. Ducks, doves and a five stand class championship have all been claimed by it.

Looking forward to more pics and details.

Hi Craig,
If I may, below is a picture of a sister to your very lovely early BE 12 gauge Fox. It too has 30 inch F &F Krupp barrels and has a birthdate also in 1910 - December 20 according to the copy of the factory card sent to me a few years back by your good friend Billy Harris. Serial number 15935.

Curious how close to litter mates they may be. I just didn't get mine tho, have had it 35 years.

Nice find Craig. Those early guns had so much character and craftsmanship they are truly a treasure when you find one like that.

I always refer to Craig’s article on engravers for early “C”. Both of your guns, the snipe has a beetle head. However, look at the wings. Bill’s has stripes, and on Craig’s the wings seem to be filled in a little more. It sure would be fun to line up a bunch of these guns and study the engraving. Each one is slightly different. That’s what makes these old guns so interesting. Each one is a piece of art. What would you guess the engraver received for each gun? $1.00 - $2.00?
