1918 Fox 20g AE re-stock
1918 Fox 20g AE re-stock
I have a 20g AE that's been in the family since it was purchased, unfortunately the stock was broken in the fifty's and replaced by a stock purchased from Herter's catalog.
Looking for recommendations to have stock replaced by a knowledgeable person or Co. It's my opinion that the gun is in very good condition except for the sock and hopefully I can find the right person for the job. Your recommendations will be gratefully received. Thanks!

Al, it does look like your gun is in very good condition. It would be nice if you could fit a NOS Fox factory stock. Jim
Goodbye Mandy, once in a life time hunting dog. I miss you every day.

Jim I'm not sure what a NOS fox factory stock is or where to find one, could you clarify for me, I'm a beginner just joined Fox collector this week. I just don't want to get the wrong person to do the restock job.Jim Cloninger wrote:Al, it does look like your gun is in very good condition. NOS = New Old Stock
There were a pile of rough inletted stocks for sale at one time through various owners of the old Fox factory inventory.
Jason Barden of Pumpkin Mountain Gunshop was at one time owner of all the remaining inventory.

Ive had this one sitting around for a few years. Not sure of your original grip style but heres a Half Pistol (s/n 201259)that may have some potential. Theres a small chip missing at the top tang left side and a tight hairline crack in the left side at wrist. No butt plate. It is uncut and the checkering is nice and has some good figure highlighted here with mineral spirits.

And Jason sold all of the buttocks that he had. He actually purchased blanks from me near the end so that he could inlet them and at least have something to sell to people who inquired. He did still have a boat load of fronds still though. But, as we know, he has suspended business.

Setterspell, thanks for posting the photos of your stock, It looks like your stock could be made to work but I'm not a person of talent when it comes to woodworking, when I find the right individual for the project I'll give the job to him and let him furnish all materials to complete the job.setterspell wrote:Ive had this one sitting around for a few years.
