Friday night at the turkey shoot. Super Fox wins 3 out of 4 shoots taking home a turkey, a ham and a pot of money.

Some folks would say that was a slam dunk entering a Turkey Shoot with an HE. I would of course agree. Some good eats there for sure.

We had a turkey shoot at my home club Saturday I took my wildfowl but the choke gage would not go into the left barrel. ( they have a limit on choke) but it started in the right one and they let me shoot it to win a ham.

The "Turkey shoot gauge" will easily go into a Super Fox muzzle.

I have a Wingmaster with factory 34" barrel that had been back-bored by a former owner to get .067" choke. I was told it was a "card gun", built for competitive turkey shoots. I need to get around to patterning it and see just what it will do. Back-boring, obviously, will gain choke constriction without changing the muzzle dimensions. I never saw a choke gage at a turkey shoot, but my gun should pass, with it's factory muzzle inside diameter. It is my understanding that extreme amounts of choke such as this will often work very well with little bird shot, but not necessarily with the larger shot sizes. It will be interesting to find out.

It has been awhile since our club held any block shoots, which is another name for this shooting a card game. I was never really involved with them, but all shooters were shooting the provided ammo to keep the playing field level.
I do remember when a fellow was shooting a rather full choke, it would blow the card right out of the holder

My close friend Charlie Boswell developed and makes CompNChokes at their machine shop near here. He was involved in the early days with card shooting, and developing screw-in chokes to maximize the patterns. I remember some targets he had in his shop that won national competitions. Amazingly tight.

A couple of years ago before covid a Hunt club held a big several day turkey shoot for money and food prizes. It was open to all Guns and a lot of custom card Guns showed up. the first day I brought an old SXS that could not compete. the next day I brought My BT99 and picked up The tightest Turkey choke that I could find. and then I was able to win several of the rounds I did not feel overmatched. still a matter of luck to get a pellet on the X. Our club picked a nominal 12 Bore full choke gage that a member made up. its intended to keep things pretty light and fun. Obviously back bored barrels would give an unfair advantage and to beat out some kid just to win a damn frozen turkey or ham by cheating. I think the members would explain it to the person and ask him to take his turkey and not come back.
