12g Sterlingworth doubled today. First time that has happened. Put a very small barely visible crack in the stock where the stock meets frame/tang just in front of the safety on the left side.

Obviously that shouldn't have happened. Recommendations? Advice? Shells were a Factory 1 1/8oz 1140fps load.

Well, IMO if you can see a crack on the outside there is probably a bigger crack on the inside. The person who repairs the crack can hopefully check out the trigger situation. Fellow by the name of Mathew Begley took some repair work from Dan Rossiter when Dan went off to G&H to work.

His website is: http://www.blackdiamondgunworksllc.com/ ... MUiR4bru50

I'm sure there are others out there who can do this work as well. Stock guy could easily fix the crack, but a lot of those guys steer clear of Mechanical problems as its not their sweet spot. I know for a fact that Mathew does both.

A seemingly common issues with the foxes is the Sear springs weakening which can cause doubling and also the gun going off when simply closing the breech!

Apart from a good cleaning. Changing out the sear spring with a good new one, or at least re-arching the old on would be a good place to look at.

mechanical issues with fox guns are not common, especially doubling...in fact that is quite rare...foxes being one of the best designed and most reliable guns ever made...

have it fixed, an keep on shootin...
