Well I thought I'd post up a few pictures of a 1923 Winchester Model 12 Trap.

This gun was Presented by the Alameda County Sportsman's Club and sports a 32" SR barrel and Oil Finished English Walnut.

Enjoy, Will

That is my idea of the ideal M12. Looks great, and the configuration is what rings my chimes. Plus, the wood is an extra!

Thanks so much for posting pics of it, Will.

Boy, that's some eye candy for a M12 lover. Solid rib versions are my favorite. Thanks for posting Will.

Nice looking gun. Beautiful wood and I like the cap on the pistol grip.

English Walnut is incredibly rare in a Model 12. I have a 16 gauge Trap Grade so equipped, the only example I have been able to buy in 60 years of collecting Model 12s.

The gun sold at Ward's auction for about $1400. After the commission, the seller got less than half of what the gun is worth. You turn a gun over to an auction house and take your chances. I wish it had been offered for sale here.

Wow, nice model 12, I have 32" solid rib straight grip trap model 12 that's a great gun but yours is much nicer, great find.

If the OP is Will, I think he sold the gun and it will be in someone else's duck blind this winter. :( :(

Bill,

You are correct the gun was commissioned through Ward's and it did not do as well as I hoped.

However, you were sent an email letting you know it was listed and apparently did not capitalize on the opportunity.

I had both previously offered it to you as in "make me a fair offer on the gun" and as trade goods against a Remington that is more in my collecting genre and no consideration or offer was made, if you'll check your emails it might jog your memory.

My experience with Ward's was mixed some of the 8 went better than I thought and visa versa.

As far as doubles, both of my Remington's did extremely poorly in this venue.

Regarding Remingtons, I don't follow Wards nor know what Will listed that didn't do as well as hoped for. But I will say that imo vintage Remington SxS's are excellent guns and way underappreciated. I've been playing around with two of them: 1894 in 12 ga, and 1900 in 16 bore. Both have good high stock dimensions and sure turn heads at the clays courses and are a blast to shoot. Besides my Foxes I'll be hunting birds with that 16b Remmy this fall. Weight with 28" Damascus tubes is 6-9, 2-1/2" drop and its factory/tapered chokes at 7 and 21 points = about IC and I-Mod. Good echoes from the long distant past and what an upland setup!
