Fox Collectors

Hello, a friend with a British Anson & Deeley Box Lock has a pair of bad sears and needs them either copied in new steel or maybe tigwelded and the notches recut. He cannot find anyone locally and I wonder if the expertise here could suggest some names. I have thought of Merrington, Perrodeau, James Flynn if still active, New England Custom Gun Co guy Dieter, Keith Kercher, Brian Dudley, and Rosson. Any additions to the list? Thanks much in advance.

Dewey Vicknair can certainly do this also. No clue as to his backlog.

Dewey is almost without peer in some gun work, in America. But, Phillip is a trigger man par excellence, also. Dewey's backlog must be about a year, or possibly more. My AE 16 has been sleeping at his shop for about a year, awaiting a tedious repair. To be perfectly clear, I'm not complaining at all.

Please report after work is completed.

IMHO Dewey is one of, if not, the best in this trade and truly deserves the title of gunsmith.
I'm fortunate to live fairly close to him and he has done work for me that is superb. He is worth the wait.

Just for info here. First pic is a Fox sear with a worn hammer engagement end and the red arrows show the microwelder where to apply the weld. Second one is a macro with the hardened filler and before I ground its sides and point angles to spec. The procedure is the same with other gun makers. Again this is just for info on what can be done without trying to buy or make/machine a replacement sear. I don't do this type work except on my own double-guns, please don't ask. frank
