Re: Starting a project
No worries.
I just have to accept the fact that it has taken longer than I ever anticipated but that it is very close to the finish line.
I decided that there would be no more reveals until it is done.

Roger, I just went back and read through the entire thread. Wow...2013 - 2021! That’s a long haul but the work, engraving, wood, etc. is exceptional. I’m sure you can’t wait to get that into your hands to shoot!! Brett

Re: Starting a project
My project gun is essentially done. I've been sitting on a few pictures for awhile. I'll be picking it up soon.
I'll share more pictures once I have it and have a chance to take good ones.
This is the 28 inch barrel set with a very slim semi-beavertail fore end with warthog ivory insert.
Dan Rossiter did a fantastic job and Gournet is, well, Gournet. My total input to him was that I wanted it to look like the engraver who did the Saint George gun went to work for Fox, that I wanted woodcock and grouse on the sides and my initials on the trigger guard, and that I did not want the engraving to get lost in the case colors at the end of the day.
It was worth the wait. I'm pretty tickled. I can't wait to pick it up from Dan.

This is “some more” awesome as we say down in our part of the world! I love the deep relief engraving. Really special stuff!

Rather amazing. Besides the deep relief engraving and the amazing stockwork (great ribbons) there are very refined work such as what was done on the safety. Very very special. Been a long and winding road, but its home now. Looking forward with some future posts with some birds beside it. Well done my friend.

Re: Starting a project
Roger, what a fantastic Fox! We talked about her at this year's Northeast SxS and I know you were hopeful and kind of reserved but still chomping at the bit. I look forward to seeing her at the next event. Any girl names in the offing? frank

Re: Starting a project
No name yet Frank, LOL. I'll have think on that one. It might take a few hunts before I'm ready to christen her.
Tom, yes there are a few special things that were incorporated in the details I worked out with Dan. Not shown in the pictures is that I had Dan make a horn butt plate instead of anything fancy like a skeleton butt or leather covered pad. I want to hunt it for a bit to see how I like the 15 1/8 LOP. I did not want to invest too much back there if I need to make adjustments later down the road.
Once I have her in my hands I'll probably put something together to share.

Re: Starting a project
I agree with the taking of a bit of time to name them. It may seem strange to some but special guns develop a "personality", or more accurately, maybe we owners develop a sense of what we have in a particular gun. Either way, it will become clear to you, in time. Done with care, it only adds to the enjoyment of having her around. Remember, it sometimes takes 9 months to name a new baby child.ROMAC wrote: No name yet Frank, LOL. I'll have think on that one. It might take a few hunts before I'm ready to christen her.
Congratulations, Roger. What a beauty!
