Last week I received a surprise call from Lou at CSMC.....He wanted to know if it was O.K. to send my special order Fox XE-special two barrel set that is now in the white with Richard Roy for engraving? I said YES with a big smile! Richard is who did my DE-special 28ga. Now I will have a brace of RR engraved CSMC Foxes....(-: My gun is on schedule and I and hope to have it for October grouse and November roosters in Kansas.......SXS ohio

Oh, I imagine he's got enough sense of humor left to appreciate it! What did you request for the special order engraving?

Engraving....Philly XE...oak leaf and normally has a Fox on the belly. I hunt with setters. I have really nice antique set of book ends with old time setter in full point. Lou took good pictures and will use this with landscape background inside a nice oval on the belly. The gun is a two barrel set and will be used to hunt grouse and woodcock with the 28" open barrels and wild roosters and quail out west with the 29" tight choke barrels. That said we are having roosters on the right side, grouse on the left a woodcock on the trigger bow and a quail on the top lever. This will be a working gun so I did not get birds done up in gold like the DE-special. It has been said its hard to see the engraving on color case frame but after the colors wear some they really stand out better. I had the word safe in gold, gold triggers, gold 1,2 on barrels and gold rib bars at the breach. Me thinks that should set her off just about right. Lou hand picked a very nice stick of American walnut for my project as promised, the gun will be XE splinter/Schnabel for-end, the rear stock has some feather crouch and flame at the cheek and but, caped pistol grip finished with a skeleton but plate. I think the oil finished, hand rubbed American walnut in this grade or quality is consistent with what the Philly Fox would have used back in the day. We are so lucky to have CSMC willing to build real Fox guns of this quality.....I know the cost is prohibitive for many just like it was back in the day of the original Philly Foxes, Parkers, ithicas, L.C. Smiths and others. CSMC takes quality trade ins and pays a fair price for them.....anyone who really wants a hand made to order Fox, maybe should raid the toy box and do a trade up...(-: The bird hunters time of year is close, I can smell it in the air! My Fox set is back from the engraver Richard Roy...9-17-15 Just shy of 30 days at the engraver...(-: The office lady Carol called and gave me the news, final amount due and request for my FFL#. Delivery will be in about 2 weeks. Gun is getting metal finishes and checkering. I will have it shipped with a oak and leather case with gold accessories. I very excited about the Fox and my first trip to Wisconsin to hunt grouse and doodles. The Fox should get here in plenty of time for some sporting clays and to go along with me to Wisconsin. I will try to post pictures after it gets here. thanks all SXS Ohio.....(-:

Hi Budrichard.....that's a sweet looking CSMC Fox gun you posted and the wood is outstanding! Is it a DE-special, is it a 20 or 16? My gun delivery was delayed as I was out of town hunting. CSMC will be sending it out this Monday nov-2nd and it should come on Tuesday 3rd. Oh happy day! Our rooster season opens the following Friday and I have a farm not far from here that will have birds that are chased from a local gun club from P.A. in to ohio. Most are roosters and I can hunt them on my friends place, 2 bird limit...(-: I had great fun last year and they get real wild and smart after being free for a couple weeks. Anyway I will try to post pictures after my new gun arrives...maybe with my two roosters with it...(-:

My gun arrived today.....wow is it nice! Its everything I had hoped for. CSMC outdid themselves, the wood and metal...just outstanding! Lou did a great job getting all the specs correct and this gun was completed in only 8 months start to finish. I am very happy camper....(-: To see pictures I have posted them on the Parker blog. Look under: other fine doubles. You do not need to be a member to see most of our blogs posts. You must be a member to view guns and items for sale or wanted items. Its easy to post pics on their blog but I have not learned to post here....SXS ohio

Well my new CSMC Fox got to go to Kansas...I used it exclusively for the 6 day hunt. I did real good shooting with it!! I am very pleased and happy with it. Put couple brush scuffs in the stock...nothing bad just light use marks..(-: Bird numbers were good but not like 2011. We had some private property to hunt or it would have been hard to find birds on the walk in areas. Good cover did not mean you found birds, birds were spotty for the most part. We did see good numbers of Quail and baged 8 for the 6 day hunt...ken 3 steve 5 Brought home 12 roosters, lost 2 birds each in the heavy cover and missed a few too. We both got limits on Thursday...4 birds each...(-: The cover was very good and we hope the birds have good weather this spring and the hunting should be back to normal next November. We booked our room again and plans are made...(-: True wild birds!...We love Kansas!!!! SXS Ohio

Its a little early but I am excited about going grouse hunting in P.A. this October. I will snap the 28" barrels in place that are open chokes, drop in a couple 7 1/2# game loads and hope for a good shot over a steady point. This will be the first hunt for the shorter barrels of my XE-spl. two barrel set. Kansas is also looking good for this November....(-: SXS Ohio
