Good to hear from you, Steve. Congrats on the buck. Hope you got the potato harvest done in time, before bad weather arrived.

There are records available from Griffen and Howe on this gun. They may head some light on the subject.

There used to be research certificates available, but Bob no longer does letters. He answered a query of mine on a gun, recently, by email, supplying what info was available on the gun, but had this to say in closing:
"Unfortunately, the letters that I have done for 10 years now have become a burden for me. I am no longer able to keep up with them and I am about to inform G&H of this fact. I doubt that they will have a ready replacement. If my situation should change I will let you know.
Thank you for your inquiry.
Regards,

I am sorry to hear they are no longer available. I have a gun that went through their twice. He did a wonderful job on both letters. A real professional. I hope he is having fun. John

Bob Beach was able to provide me extensive documentation supporting the provenance of a very rare Savage 1899 I own that went through Von Lengerke & Detmold in 1903 and 1904. His research included photocopies of the ledger pages signing the gun into inventory, rolling it into another year's inventory and then the sale to the buyer. The details provided matched my gun to a T. His research even included copies of the buyers personal information and photocopies of census pages verifying his address and family status.
The cost was $50.00 at the time and I felt it was worth every penny. I hope that he might reconsider offering the service, perhaps at a higher rate to discourage tire kickers and reduce the volume that seems to be giving him headaches.

I am sorry to hear Bob is retiring. He researched a Parker for me and sent just about enough information to write a book. Great guy as well
