Jolly Bill you win the award for having owned some of the nicest Foxes in the country! Great work. John

Hi John,

Agreed, I have/had some pretty nice Foxes over the years but not anywhere near award winning.

And you too, have had some pretty nice ones and you still do.

Thanks for the nice compliment.

Bill

Hi Bill,
We have both been very fortunate.

It was a good year for the home for wayward XE’s. I also adopted one of its residents. It is an XE twenty with twenty eight inch barrels.
The gun was reimagined by a previous foster parent with some new wood. At some point in the past it was refitted with a single trigger.

Now that's just plain nice. Love the engraving on the XE's. Shoot it in good health.

My adoptees this year were migrants from across the pond. No new Foxes. Perhaps I will post them elsewhere. Some wonderful new additions for many it looks like! Congratulations to all of you gentlemen!

Loggy,
That is a beautiful XE 20. I hope you’ve gotten to shoot that one, it sure looks sweet!

I would love to the opportunity to buy an original XE 20, but it hasn't happened in 30 year of serious Fox collecting and I'm doubtful it will ever happen. Those that are the caretakers of 20ga XE's are very fortunate.

Craig, You have built a wonderful collection of Dana quality guns. Thank you for sharing those guns and your information with us. Hopefully your dream XE20 and the HE with the unique engraving will come your way someday! John

The very best original XE 20 seen in the last 20 years went in the Sept. 14 2024 Guyette and Deeter auction. It eclipsed the stunning XE 16 gauge from Dana Tauber's collection, offered next to it, by a significant margin. Emptor gaudeaut! Kevin

Forgot, but I do have a 2024 adoptee. Savage 20 gauge AE with 30" barrels. Had a horrible replacement Bubba made buttstock so it's currently with the stocker. No super fancy wood on this one as the original forearm is fine. The original wood is black walnut, so I am just having a replacement buttstock done in semi- fancy black walnut and told the stocker to stain it to match the factory forearm.

An outrageous HE 20, 32" and a very nice XE 12, 30" were way more that I could have hoped for. It was my first of each. Too bad I'm too weak to hunt any more. I guess they'll get plenty of exercise on the clay target fields.
