Back in the late 1970s/early 1980s I would drop off early Model 3200s with the gate guard at Ilion on Monday morning after a race weekend at Watkins Glen and about six weeks later they would arrive at my door in a plain green cardboard box with an address label with my address and an Ilion, New York return address but no mention of Remington anywhere. All the updates done and looking new. They even replaced cracked forearm wood on one with no charge.

They are all favorites! I cant get enough of these well made examples of a bygone era. I hope the younger generation picks up on this genre and keeps them alive. Pictured from top are boxed Philly 16, Utica 20 with Philly features, Philly ejector 16, Philly brush 16 and a Philly 12 with hang tag and Tryon Co. receipt for gun, shells and canvas case.

The only thing that would be a Tryon receipt would be a Tom Gibbons receipt.

In one of my previous responses to this thread I mentioned my affinity for Sterlingworth Wildfowl guns. Have used several for Spring Gobblers. Here are a couple pics of Serial #’s 35170 and 134112. I took these several years ago.

That is a beautiful gun! Tell us about the work and project. This twenty was done some years back The late Jack Jones did the engraving and Gunter Pfrommer the original stock. I fell and broke the first stock during a woodcock hunt and used this wood that I had set aside to restock a model 21 duck gun. as you can see it came out nice pattern is very balanced on both sides of stock and straight grained through the wrist. I did a 12 a 16 and this 20 Gunter stocking them to my measurements the 12 GA has 3 sets of barrels 32 F/F LIVE BIRD. trap BBLS. 30in lm/lm I use for sc and 28in sk/ic for skeet. The 16 is my grouse gun Jack engraved my old Gsp on the base plate engraving was taken from a photo of her sitting in the barrel of a 16in battleship gun barrel These three sterlies are the ones I will pass on to my grandkids if they develop an interestImage
