I own them all, shoot them all, and can't find any difference in shooting qualities among them. Today, I was out with some like minded individuals, armed with a Holland and Holland, a Boss, a Parker, a Diamond grade Prussian Daly, a lower grade 20 gauge Prussian Daly, a Model 21, and we all missed as many birds as we would have with a Mossburg. I promised to attend next week's meeting with a Model 97 Winchester and expect similar results. By the way, Craig, I may replace the 97 Winchester with a high condition Remington 10E if you think that will help.

My late father-in-law shot a Remington Model 11, and I rarely saw him miss a live bird OR a target with that gun.

MM also wrote it was a “fast driver” but the period report I have stated the bird Ansley missed was a “fast towering outgoer”. Fast and outgoer sound like a driver in live bird shooting parlance but the towering doesn’t. Just trying to clarify for posterity.

Thanks Frank. I got the "fast driver" from the book. That whole chapter came from my research of shoot reports in old sporting magazines at The Library of Congress.

Don the article is in the Autumn 1997 DGJ by Charlie Semmer.

The gun eventually became part of the "Andy" Anderson estate and was auctioned at Julia in Oct. 2015.

It was actually a Model 1894 DEO with special extensive engraving made in 1907!

The congressman was The Honorable Mr. E.I. Van Derveer of New Jersey.
