No new Ansley H. Fox guns for me in 2019. Didn't buy any guns for the first ten months, then a Remington Model 17 with solid rib IMP. CYL. barrel in November and a late Remington era Parker 16-gauge in December.

Here are a couple of things on the Lefever Double Trap. Only the Nitro Special and the two single barrels are on the Lefever Arms Co., Inc. 1929 poster. The Double Trap first appears on the poster dated 1930 which is identical to this one dated Oct. 1, 1930 --

The Double Trap was pictured in Capt. Paul A. Curtis' column in Field & Stream, April 1930, but the column covered the Sedgley Springfield Sporter and an H & R pistol?!?

Also a Lefever ad for the Double Trap in that issue --

Frank,
Thanks for posting a picture of the Nitro, that model is not one that I have encountered yet. It looks to be in great condition, and I like that Hawkins pad.
I do have a Lefever poster similar to yours Dave, I have to look for that one and see which year it is and also if it might have the model on that Frank has pictured.

I brought in a SP 16 gauge that's an awesome upland gun and a 16 SW Ejector gun nearly to nice to shoot. other than Fox I picked up a pre-war Remington 121 MoSkeetO Bore. Still searching for a CE or XE 16...
Happy New Year !

For 2019 it was a year of mostly Small Bores, including an addition yesterday

1. 20 ga. SP - very minty - goes with my 16 and 12 ga
2. 12 ga. SPE, 32” barrels, ST, first SP that I’ve seen w/long barrels
3. 20 ga Savage SW w/26” barrels - great condition
4. 16 ga Savage SW w/28” barrels - nice condition
5. 20 ga. Philly CE, unfortunately cut barrels, will be a work in progress/project
6. 16 ga. AE w/28” barrels, factory NSST, and factory beaver tail forend

Other
1. Remington 58 Sportsman 12 ga. Grd D - gorgeous wood
2. Royal Gun Co. - 12 Ga. A Grd - 28” non-ejector - another project

12 gauge 26" SP in very high condition.
12 gauge flat side Sterlingworth, 30", about mint.
These were found in late 2018, no Foxes in 2019. I'll try harder in 2020.

I was fortunate to acquire a very high condition Philadelphia Sterlingworth 20 gauge with 28 inch barrels from our beloved Daryl.

A set of C Grade 32 inch long barrels. Bores perfect, chokes full and full, chambers not messed with blueing 95%. I just wonder where the rest of the gun is. I guess it never hurts to have a set of spare barrels.

James, post the serial # and we’ll be on the lookout for the frame, could be a 2 barrel set!

Jason, I'll bet a few duck hunters would like to see that Parker 10 ga. with the 34" barrels. You need to bring it to Hauseman's and shoot the Bo-Whoop competition. :)

I was poking around in my safes tonight in anticipation of going out in the AM to chase some bunnies and I saw a few 2019 pick ups that I did not mention in my earlier post, including one that I completely forgot about.

First, a 16 gauge Brush Ejector 16 gauge that I was lucky enough to get from our very own Frank Srebro, AKA Silvers, back in the beginning of the year.I bloodied it the day I got it chasing rabbits along route 80 in eastern PA.

The other Fox I forgot about was an upgraded 12 gauge brush ejector with 26 inch barrels that I picked up at Hauseman's that was on its way to an auction house when fate intervened. I thought it was done well enough and as I said before, I'm a sucker for upgrades.

The pictures below are of the upgraded 12.

The other pickups were a 20 gauge Parker Trojan and an SKB 385 28 gauge.

I also sold a 16 gauge Sterlingworth, a 12 gauge CE, a 12 gauge Early A, a Late AE, a Remington 1894 BE 12 gauge and an RBL 16.

You don't see many 12 gauge upgrades. That gun is a stunner.
