I used the 28 inch with the more open chokes. I carried the 32 inch barrels but didn't feel I needed the extra distance with so many leaves on the trees.

You are a lucky man, Deetsman, to be able to hunt Ruffed Grouse in the beautiful state of Minnesota. I grew up in Minnesota hunting Ruffed Grouse with my dad. Now I am disabled and not able to get back to Minnesota to hunt the "KING".

You are correct. I am extremely lucky. It has finally soaked in that I have a limited number of years left and I am trying to take advantage of what time the good Lord allows me. I am about to turn 60 and I can't go like I once did. I have a good friend who usually hunts with me who is facing knee replacement surgery and has not been able to go for the last two years. I have some idea of what you are going through. I try and take pictures because I know that one day, in the not too distant future, I will have "outgrown" my hunting and fishing. Thanks for reminding me that I am indeed a lucky man.
