Thanks for getting back to me.
I will try to get better photos to you
As for the barrels. They look identical in the markings All four tubes are
729 and chambered 2 5/8 in. The chokes on the 26 in. are .027 and ,035
and the 28 in are .042 and .042
As you see in the photos it looks like someone stippled the stock and forearm
instead of re-checkering otherwise it doesn't appear to be altered in any way.
I would like to get better pictures to the members of this forum to get advice
on restocking and whether or not to do any metal restoration

Another photo of forearm metal

I haven't found any photos of other fox guns with this metal on the front of the forearm

I have tried to find more info on this gun going through my Double Gun Journals but didn't
find much
I did find a picture of it in the Michael McIntosh A.H Fox book on page 60
and that he had notes on two other C grades a 26in # 374 and a 30in # 454

Those were actually my notes McIntosh was refering to. Very shortly after I bought No. 454, the C-Grade Pigeon Gun subsequently pictured in McIntosh's book, from Chadick's Ltd., No. 374 was advertised by Donn's Gunroom up near Philadelphia. I drove up there to have a look at it. It also had a straight grip stock, but it's 26-inch barrels had definately been cut. The third C-Grade I've seen and handled was a full pistol grip gun with 30-inch barrels, serial number 792.

Have you checked out the Philadelphia Arms Co. section of our web site? http://www.foxcollectors.com/ah_fox/con ... _arms.html

Shown are my C-Grade Pigeon Gun and the only D-grade to have come to light so far.

Here is a shot of the P.F. duPont E-grade on the left and my C-Grade on the right --

and here are the forearms for the two guns --

My article on Philadelphia Arms Co. was in The Double Gun Journal, Volume Thirteen, Issue 4, pages 46 to 55. Unfortunately Cote's printers did an extremely bad job of color separation on my Kodachromes.

I don't know what you tried to post, but what I see when I check "properties" on each of those red Xs I see 33 x 60 pixels, barely a poatage stamp. The pictures I posted were 506 x 800 and 800 x 335 pixels
