My Wife is gone on a trip down to Boise, so I'm going wild with the scanner. Here are the pictures I've found in various books that show Bo-Whoop. Bo-Whoop was pictured in Ole Miss' on the picture page between pages 140 and 141. I only have The Buckingham Mint reissue of Ole Miss' and the pictures are very grainy. Anyone with an original Derrydale? Is this picture any clearer in a Derrydale?

This next picture was used quite often. In The Best of Nash Buckingham, George Bird Evans says this is Nash in 1934 with Bo-Whoop "and the springer spanial Chubby, probably the favorite of all his dogs." If that is a springer I'll eat him!!

Image

I don't have a date for this picture, but it is on page 262 of Mr. Buck. Note the Ivory tip is missing from Bo-Whoop's forearm.

Until I read your question I assumed they were spats or gators or those socks I see on Englishman at driven shoots. Now I am not sure.

Best,

I have a copy printed by Putnam with copyrights of 1937 and 1946. The picture quality isn't any better.

Dave is correct. Guess I need to wear my reading glasses more often.

Hmmm. My copy of Ole Miss' is one of Doug Mauldin's 1992 Derrydale reprints. A photo appears in "The Ropes and Tools of Goose Shooting" between pages 124 and 125. The image is actually relatively sharp. The caption reads The Author's ten-pound Becker Magnums; the Top Gun is "Bo-Whoop". Pictured are two straight hand-stocked Fox doubles; the one labeled as Bo-Whoop has an obvious Schnabel forend and a recoil pad with a pattern of alternating rectangular-shaped openings, and the stock cheeks appear to be checkered. The other gun has no Schnabel (or at least a much less-pronounced one), no pad, and checks that are not checkered.

In reference to shipping dates, I think maybe the shipping date was in May 1927. I think it may have went back for some change of some sort and was reshipped on Jul 27, good thing about this is, everybody can come up with their own conclusion, right?
