Sources for Fox 16ga guns?

Can't you return the gun in question? If the seller hopes to keep his reputation I would think he would accept your return, no questions asked.

How did a 16-gauge Sterlingworth get that heavy? What part of the country are you in? Perhaps we can recommend someone nearby.

I've got quite a few SW 16's and one A grade 16. The A grade is the lightest at 5 lb's 10 oz and almost too light. The heaviest is a 16 gauge 28" extractor gun with the thicker Savage forearm at 6 lbs 9 oz.

Also have a 30" 16 gauge extractor gun (Savage gun with Philly hardware that comes in at 6 lb 8 oz. Lastly, a 30" Ejector SW (early philly) that also comes in at 6 lb 8 oz.

Appears to me the Philly guns were a bit lighter for sure overall when it comes to the 16 gauge guns.
