Just a few idle thoughts from someone who has no dog in the discussion. I sent in my check for life membership the first chance I could get to the post office and think my member number is in the single digits or low teens.
So here goes.
I wonder how many people here still pay for their fuel by writing a check after they fill up at the station?
Pay pal charge is around 3.5% easily off set by making the due an extra $5 for the inconvenience of using the credit card to who ever it inconveniences. The set up on my web sites took about 5 minutes. I can electronically transfer the money to my checking account without going to the band and doing deposit slips and all. If whoever has access to the Fox web site would like help setting paypal up I would gladly help.
One way or the other there are many benefits to being a member and growth of the base will only help us all to learn more about Fox guns

Well, I guess I have to chime in here as long as this has turned into some type of "discussion". I realize that this is not a plebiscite topic but I too am in favor of the availability of "online membership sign-up/renewal."
I suspect it would increase membership. For many people joining a organization is a spontaneous event....definitely not a necessity. I think that if someone has an immediate interest in Fox guns, for whatever their motivation at the moment "surfing the web", many will ante up quickly while they're thinking about it. If they have to print a form and mail a check the urge may come and go AND most people get sidetracked and the urge may pass or be forgotten about. If setting up and/or managing such a system is counter-productive regarding effort & labor I certainly understand it's not the thing to do.
I prefer doing things "NOW"....sad but true. I do most of my transactions online at this stage in the game.
I know that the AHFCA has Paypal capabilities in place (for card checks) and I question why that couldnt be used for memberships? I understand there is a charge to the club but I suspect the convenience to members/prospective members would increase revenue to the club and perhaps the loss would be negligible while increasing cash flow. I think that's why most merchants are set up to take credit cards from their patrons.
Anyway, I am going to get my checkbook right now and send my dues for renewal forthwith but as a member I was compelled to voice my personal opinion.
Happy New Year Boys. Will see some of you in Vegas in a couple of weeks I hope.

Good question Marshfellow, Guess I like to circle before I land. I'm really not a Fox Collector, I have an interest in Fox Shotguns and that seems to be growing. I have a Fox that I'm trying to repair, so my interest in this site is great. I'm really pretty new to the site and Fox Shotguns, so holding back on joining is understandable. I also realize that I don't have access to all the Fox information, because I'm not a member. Maybe only member should respond to membership issues. In America the Majority Rules. Maybe the issue of electronic membership should be put to a vote among the members and let the Majority Rule. Hope I don't offend anyone by responding without being a member. Still really like all you guys and thanks for all your help. Really love the site and may have full privileges someday.
later,
Clay

How about a compromise, reaching across the aisle; why not set up a PAYPAL account (as much as i hate PAYPAL as they are anti gun) or the new system being introduced on Gunbroker and let people pay that way. If there is a charge for the service, the member pays it.
make it worthwhile; do it for 2 or 3 or 45 year memberships and higher. whatever makes sense.
Or if you are really worried, go get a postal money order and do it that way.

My comment is not about complaining about about paying, but rather a question on how to pay? I am from Canada, on the membership application it request a check for dues. Since i do not have a US checking/bank account that is difficult to complete. Since i am only about 45mins away from the NY border i am open to suggestions. What other ways can i send payment?

I have the opposite situation when sending payment for goods and services I buy in Canada. I don't have a Canadian bank account. I typically mail a personal U.S. check and make it payable in either U.S.D. or $ CAD, depending on what the payee wants. Another option is for you to send an "International Money Order" (payable in U.S.D.), which is available at Canadian Post Offices and/or Banks. Silvers

The board is kind enough to donate the time to take care of the association, perhaps the members should donate the time to write a check.
