Great post, Frank. As you will agree, "The Ducks Were There". I also agree that buying a case of Nash Buckingham's shells does present a bit of a logistics situation. Maybe the fellow who bought them lives somewhere where no tox is a foreign language. I hope he shoots them in an appropriate Fox HE.

Frank and Craig, Thanks for sharing the photos! Wish I could have been there!!

On the Super-X shells... interesting... only half the price of Nice Shot... too bad the only thing you could legally shoot with them would be turkey.

Thanks all for the reports. Frank, thank you, too, for reporting on the case of Super-Xes. A fine gentleman that used to post over on the Shooting Sportsman board sent me an e-mail years ago, after reading some of my posts concerning the original Luballoy load that Nash tested and used, and the HE that I had recently bought, asking if I would be interested in a complete box of them. I replied, "YES!!!!!!!!!", of course, and asked how much he would have to get for them. He replied that he would be happy to send me a box for free, that he had several boxes left over from the old days, and that I sounded like someone that would appreciate them. He sent them to me and wouldn't even let me pay for the shipping. His name was Mike Olson. I always wanted to meet him and thank him in person, but never was able to. A case of them is like a holy grail to shell collectors and Fox fans like myself.

Could we get enough commitments to go next year from our members that we could put together a team and show those LCS and Parker teams what the Finest Gun in the World can do? What would be involved in that? I would make a firm commitment to be there if we did. I dearly love competition with these guns. I'll bet with a whole year to work on him I could even get Bobby to go for a couple of days with me.

Stan

Stan, IMO it would be great to see more Fox enthusiasts at the Southern next year to meet each other/look at guns/hang out, and shoot the regular courses. But the Challenge venue has been set up years ago by and for the Parker and Smith folks. I don't think it would be appropriate to try to get Fox included in their exclusive event. Just for information to our members, each maker does signups of shooters who try to qualify for their respective team, and a qualification round is done on a 5-stand that hasn't been used for practice shooting. The top 10 scorers are chosen for each maker, and each team of 10 shooters does a for-score round on a different setup of 5-stand targets during the Challenge. I watched many of the qualifications and I suspect 50 or more shooters tried out for each team. What a turnout! Frank

Craig, it was good to visit with you at Sanford. Glad you had a good time and hope you come back! You are going to have to shoot that 10 in the Challenge next year! WE insist!!!!

See you in MD in Sept!

Great report guys. It sounds like a lot of real intriguing items. Those shells!!! I don't know if I would have had the control to walk away from those.

I have been planning since last years to be in MD this Sept.
I may have to apply some of that voodoo IRS math to save enough money to bring something nice home :D

I'll try to do that tonight. Never done it but a couple of times, but I'll try again.

Looks like if I'm gonna get in on that I may have to "prostitute" myself and shoot a Pahkah or Elsie. :o

There are a bunch of Fox and other shooters participating in the Challenge. They either use their own Smiths or Parkers or borrow them. Anyone can participate.

Bill thanks for adding that comment for clarity.

Also just for info, the gent who had the case of the SX shells said they were in blue and yellow boxes. He said he'd opened a second case with the same HB consignee address many years before and had sold them piecemeal at that time. Frank

This is the only photo I have right now of this box of Super-Xs. I'll try to take some close-ups soon and post them.

Just curious, as I thought this event was only for side-by-side doubles. In an earlier foto I am sure I saw several over-under doubles contaminating the bevy of finer boxlock side-by-sides. If I am right, how was this allowed to happen?
