Should have the 20 GA to the same place as the 12 GA by end of next week. Got to go back to work. Man these vintage shotguns are a rabbit trail. It is easy to just get lost in it all for sure.

20 GA all cleaned up, reassembled and is just needing some more wood finish.

Thanks for all the kind replies.

Looks nice. You should be able to get a lot of use out that old gun. 👍

The 12 GA is completely done.

All metals cleaned and lubricated, stock and forearm re-finished and checkering cleaned up. Duck season opens soon and I will be after some wood ducks with this ole gal.

The 20 ga is not too far behind.

Many thanks,

I think your checkering looks very nice. Did you recut the checkering yourself?

I just reread your entire post and I was wondering how the screw on the trigger plate came out. You drilled out the old screw, and then “re-contoured” the replacement. How did that process go? Nice gun.

I did the checkering. I have been doing it now for a couple years but I have to say that Using Michael Ullman products took my efforts to another level. His carbide cutters are amazing and the see through handle is so ridgid and easy to work. Thanks Michael.

The screw replacement turned out great but it is not engraved yet. I am hunting with my buddy that does the engraving in December and will have him do that for me then.

Many thanks for the replies.

TRAVNTALL,
This has been a great thread. This would make a great article for the Newsletter with additional details and pics on the process you took to bring the nice guns back to serviceable life. Thanks - Brett
