Skeet Sterly

What can I say, after shooting skeet for a year and a half with modern guns, who would of thought I would shoot my first 25 straight with my Fox Sterlingworth. And not just once but 3 times! Mark.

Here's the story, Last December I shot my Grandfathers Fox Sterlingworth skeet and upland special and it just felt right, but it belongs to my brother. I looked for a suitable Sterly to make my own and I found one at the right price, the stock had been shortened and a spacer installed so the gun was on sale for half price. The serial # makes it out to be a 1920 12ga w/28" barrels, lop with the spacer is 14 1/4 choked at mod/mod. It is now rechambered to 2 3/4 and the chokes have been opened up to skeet and skeet( thanks to Dad and brother Bob) I added a Limbsaver recoil pad to replace the hard as a rock Pachmayer which increased the lop to 15 1/4 which fits me perfectly. I shoot my 12ga 1oz reloads w/ #9 shot and w/ 28ga Lil Skeeters(one of the straights was in 28ga) I've run about a 1000 rounds thru it and it's never given me a problem. Early on I had a big problem with primer drag and had to open it over my leg, it's now fixed and no more problems. So in a nutshell I've taken a gun which would probably still be on the rack and made it in to one heck of a shooter, it's now my favorite gun. I think i'll shoot a least 4 rounds tonight! Mark.

It is good to see the old Fox out doing what it was meant to be doing. In addition to a very good skeet gun you have the makings of a great Ruff Grouse, Woodcock and Quail gun plus it will be good for Pheasant over pointing dogs.

Go ahead and shoot H out of her, that's what she was made for.

Shot the H out of it last night, two 25's back to back and a 21. It sure did raise some eyebrows! Mark.
