Carbonia blue versus Nitre Bluing?

Post by vaturkey »

Anyone fill me in on the difference? I was thinking about nitre blueing for the side pins on a custom fox I'm working up as per SDH's book. Someone recommended Carbonia Blueing because it is much more durable and looks similar. Appreciate any comments from those who have custom guns.

PS. Some of the early Becker Foxes had case colored triggers. Appreciate thoughts on the merits (positive or negative) on that as well. Thanks mucho.

Here's a link to Ron's Gun Shop of Oshkosh, WI that explains the various finishes quite well.
