HE forearm pictures

Post by Twice Shooter »

I recently purchased a well used HE Grade Fox. The checkering on the forearm is almost totally gone. I'm thinking about having the stock and forearm recheckered and refinished. Does anyone have detailed pictures I can use to rechecker the forearm or advise me where I can find detailed pictures. Thanks in advance. Twice Shooter

I am not sure how detailed you need but the Favorite HE section and searching super Fox will give you photos of the layout of the forearm checkering.

Birdawg, Thanks for your post. I have looked at those pictures and they show good views of the side. I need one that shows a head on view looking at the forearm release lever and complete forearm. Twice Shooter

It's not my intent to start a controversy but it seems that members are more likely to go the extra mile for other members. In this case, if someone already has pictures set up on photobucket or similar, it's relatively easy to access the file(s) and post them here. On the other hand, hauling a gun of the safe, setting up a camera, taking decent pics, getting them on a computer, thence to web hosting service, then posting the pics - will probably take 20-30 minutes at the least and is less likely to happen in the public forum.

Paying the dues and posting requests like this in the Members Forum, or by PM to other members, will likely be more productive. This is just my personal opinion and is not AHFCA policy, but I've heard it also in discussions with other members. Silvers

Regular HE-Grade forearms were checkered pretty much in the same pattern as A-/AE-Grades. The middle forearm in this picture would cover from introduction into the 1930s and the upper forearm later Savage-era guns.

Hello Researcher and Jolly Bill, Gentlemen thank you very much for the pictures. You have provided exactly what I need. This is an early gun, serial number 28xxx. sold in April 1923. Your pictures are great. Again thank you. Twice Shooter
