AHFCA at The Hosford Cup - Saturday August 16th, 2025
The Hosford Cup is scheduled for Saturday, August 16th, 2025. New format this year with the main event consisting of 100 targets shot over two 5 stand courses. Along with the main event there will be a “Don’t shoot the Hen” side event and a small bird .410 side event. AHFCA is sponsoring the AHFCA High Gun and Runner Up cash awards for those shooting an A.H. Fox gun. Always a great shoot and a lot of fun! Hope to see some Midwest Fox shooters there. Brett

Re: AHFCA at The Hosford Cup - Saturday August 16th, 2025
The Hosford Cup took place yesterday near Dexter Michigan. The Cup’s namesake is none other than Jon Hosford. Many of you know Jon from his design and development of barrel measurement gauges and attendance at major shoots throughout the Country.
A total of 44 shooters participated in the main event which was 100 targets split over two challenging 5 stand courses. Along with the main event there were two side events a Don’t Shoot The Hen event and a Small Bird (.410) event.
The AHFCA sponsored the AHFCA High Gun and Runner Up cash prizes for those shooting A.H. Fox guns. A total of 11 Fox shooters shot the main event. The last squad to shoot included Dana Farrell and Matthew Begley. This squad’s second 5 Stand run endured a steady rain that started about half way through and then was stopped due to thunder. After about a 30 minute rain delay they finished the course. Inspite of the soaking rain Matthew and Dana tied for high gun w a score of 80. Dana goes by Grade III on the forum and Matthew is the force behind Black Diamond Gun Works LLC. Matthew was shooting a 28” C Grade 12 gauge and Dana was shooting a 30” 12 gauge Sterlingworth Pin gun.
Per the rules a single station shoot off began to determine the High Gun award. Matthew shot first followed by Dana for the first station which ended in another tie each hitting 8 of the 10 targets. We then moved to the second station with Dana shooting first. The final outcome was Dana besting Matthew by one target on Station two. Congratulations to both Dana and Matthew!
Hats off to the Moose Sportsman’s Members for putting on a great shoot!

The AHFCA set up a small display table at the event. There was good engagement with the shooters and the chance to share more about the AHFCA. Here are a few pics.

Congratulations Brett, 44 shooters is a good turnout for a late summer shoot. Wow, three straight grip Foxes in a row; don't think I've ever seen that. Was Jon there? What a great guy. Thanks for promoting this. Any other pics of the attendees?

Daryl,
Jon was there and he won the Don’t Shoot The Hen event. That is a game where there are two oscillating machines set up behind you with a stacked pair of orange and yellow targets. The objective is to shoot the Orange target and miss the hen (yellow targets). In addition they throw two sets of double clays out of the trap house in front of you at random. You get a point for each orange bird and a -1 for hitting a yellow (hen) target. It can be really challenging because some times the birds stay stacked as they fly and other times they separate by tow or three feet or six inches. I really enjoy that game.

Played that game many times and when you play it full choke is your friend. The whole event sounded like fun.
